The Reality of Evil: Making the Connection
In thinking through the reality of the present situation in the war on terror, the Iranian nuclear escalation, and the situation in Iraq the following observations can be made for each point covered in outline:
- Behind the scenes of the insurgents in Iraq, the tyrants in Iran and the Islamic terrorists around the world, there is a strategic plan unfolding in which the enemy seeks to kill American soldiers and civilians, break the American will, and overthrow Israel's strongest ally.
- This strategic plan is being carried out by a spiritual enemy. On the world scene we see men like Al Qaeda's leader Osama bin Laden, the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Lebanon's terrorist leader of Hezbollah, Sheikh Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. But the Scripture makes it clear that flesh and blood is not our true enemy. Because our true enemies are spiritual and not fleshly we cannot defeat them with bullets and bombs alone.
- Osama bin Laden, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and others like them cannot operate alone or with out inspiring and educating others through a disciplined organizational structure. More importantly there are "rulers, authorities and powers" working in an organized and systematic way behind the scenes to spiritually control and manipulate those whose images and ideology we hear spouse in the media. We need to release the organization of heaven to combat the organization of hell.
- It is critical that we understand that the Islamic fascists leadership operates from a core of evil. They cannot be negotiated with because their goal is not to be understood but to conquer. They do not think like Westerners think. There is no cost\benefit analysis in their actions. They are willing to sacrifice themselves, their lives, their blood, and their people, to advance an agenda of world domination. They are cruel, vicious, and motivated by Satan himself. We cannot vacillate nor hesitate. We must respond with strength and moral clarity in all our dealings. We cannot afford to be seen as accommodating to their evil actions and plans.
- We must recognize that men like Osama bin Laden, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the leadership of organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah have been patiently working out a strategic plan, inspired by Hell itself, to neutralize the moral clarity of our nation and to overthrow Western civilization and America and Israel in particular. There has never been and never will be a plan for peace. The only peace they will accept is the unconditional surrender of America, Israel and the Western world. They are at war with Christians, Jews and democracy and they will patiently prosecute that war until they are stopped or emerge victorious.

The Revelation of Evil: Exposing the Deceit
- Our adversary is depraved, and will go to any lengths to achieve its end. While countries like Israel and the United States will do anything to avoid killing children and other innocent civilians, the tyrannical regimes of terrorism will do anything to kill children and other innocents, they figured out this cruel arithmetic of death: Every time the terrorists kill a civilian, they win. Every time the terrorists get the democracies to kill a child, they win. Its win/win for the terrorists, it’s lose/lose for the democracies.
- Our adversary is determined and will not be turned aside from its stated purpose: to see every Christian and Jew worldwide bow a knee to Islam. The strategic plan to control the Middle East and surround Israel with Iranian proxies is being carried out by Iran?s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his proxies. According to all sources, Iran is very close to its determined plan of possessing nuclear weapons capabilities. Ahmadinejad becomes more defiant every day. He has thumbed his nose at the nuclear governing bodies of the world; And, his threats of retaliation if anyone dare impose sanctions on Iran are more blatant.
- Our adversary is deceitful. Days before the 9/11 attacks, the UN sponsored a World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia, and Related Intolerance. Hidden behind that grand title was a hate-filled attack against Western democracy in general and the United States and Israel in particular. Charges such as racism, slavery, and colonialism were leveled against these two democracies. Muslim regimes still using these practices escaped such criticism. No mention was made of the genocide in Rwanda or Iraq; no condemnation was levied against Iran?s use of children as mine-sweepers during the Iran-Iraq War; nor was there a mention of the suppressive regimes in Saudi Arabia or of Syria?s subjugation of the Lebanese people. The target of our deceitful adversary is readily identified: The “Great Satan” (America) and the “Little Satan” (Israel.)
- Our adversary is diligent. Following the botched attack on the World Trade Center in 1993, the adversary went underground for eight years before resurfacing to attack the World Trade Center again on September 11, 2001, with devastating results. Painstaking plans designed to bring
- Our adversary is devout in his belief. Youngsters are taught that to sacrifice themselves as martyrs for the “cause” is the ultimate goal, and they must be ready at all times for the opportunity to attain that goal. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not your run-of-the-mill madman. He firmly believes in the soon return of the Twelfth Imam, a character in Iranian mythology that can only be resurrected through an apocalyptic struggle. His grasp of this concept has spilled over into his speeches, including an address to the United Nations where he boldly called for “the emergence of a perfect human being who is heir to all prophets and pious men. He will lead the world to justice and absolute peace.”26 It is at the core of his writings and is taught in Iranian schools. This belief has shaped the life vision and the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Evil's Reward: The Defeat of the Enemy
- The adversary will be conquered through prayer. That statement seems to conflict with what we see and hear on the news today. It appears that the adversary is winning the war on terror with its jihadi-style guerilla warfare. America is facing its worst internal crisis since the American Civil War. The words of Abraham Lincoln during that conflict are still true today. There is only one answer to the dilemma in which this nation finds itself: prayer.
- The adversary will be confined through perseverance. Do we have the resolve ? the perseverance - to win the war on terror regardless of what it takes? Or do we allow ourselves to be swallowed up in the tsunami of terrorism that is certain to engulf the shores of America if the Islamofascists are not stopped? Do we have the determination to persevere in prayer and intercession for this nation and for the nation of Israel?
- The adversary will be crushed through proclamation. The proclamation of the Word of God is the key that unlocks the door of ignorance, hatred, and bigotry. John 8:32 says, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”
- The adversary will bow to the Prince of Peace God himself spoke in Isaiah 45:22-23: “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.”
